The opening lyrics of Flowers mention a house that the then couple watched burn down into ashes.

Of course, a burning home can be the metaphoric home of their married life that burned down or the house that burned down in the Woosley wildfire in 2018. When this house burned down, the then couple was at the peak of their relationship. Miley refers to this in the song as “We were good, we were gold”.
