Goals Galore: Predicting the Top 3 Scorers of Euro 2024

Posted 31 Jan 2024

The main aim for players will be to help their country lift the Henri Delaunay Cup, the iconic silver trophy that will be presented to the winners of Euro 2024 in Germany. As a sub-plot however, many players will be chasing individual honours and accolades.

One of the most important among these is the Top Scorer trophy. Most know it as the Golden Boot, but it’s officially been sponsored by Alipay since Euro 2020. Last time out, the Golden Boot was secured by Cristiano Ronaldo.

For the players themselves, one of the biggest joys of competing is the thrill of each moment, soaking up the atmosphere that bursts into life around them in the stadiums, especially when pandemonium erupts after scoring a vital goal.

Such experiences are part of what makes attending a major tournament so memorable, and that’s why here at Zenseats, we’re primed and ready to provide you with all the best UEFA Euro 2024 tickets and packages.

That’s because just like you, we’re passionate about football and love talking about the beautiful game. Now, let’s take a look at which players we reckon will be leading the chase to top the scoring charts at the tournament.

Cristiano Ronaldo

Given his incredible prominence in the global game over the last two decades, Cristiano Ronaldo is heading into what could be his final major international tournament appearance. He’ll be 39 by the time the tournament starts and he’ll be keen to bow out in a blaze of glory with Portugal.
If that wasn’t incentive enough, and knowing his incredible appetite for success, Ronaldo will also be keen to establish another milestone in his wonderful career. He’s already the top international goalscorer of all time, boasting 128 goals for Portugal since debuting in 2003.
Ronaldo was the top scorer at Euro 2020 with 5 goals for his national team, and to date, no player has ever led the scoring charts at consecutive tournaments. So if we know the zeal that Cristiano has for personal achievement, we can bank on this record being one he’ll be chasing.

Kylian Mbappe

Were it not for the heartbreaking final defeat at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, then Kylian Mbappe would undoubtedly have won the Golden Ball as best player of the tournament. Instead it went to Lionel Messi.
Nevertheless, the Frenchman did win the Golden Boot award, topping the scoring charts with 8 goals, including a remarkable hat-trick in the World Cup Final. Heading into Euro 2024, the 25-year-old will be aiming to celebrate both collective and personal success with his team.
Mbappe is one of the hottest properties in football, and he’s also likely to be one of the most lethal scoring threats at Euro 2024. He’ll be backed by a team that will feed his insatiable hunger for goals with plenty of creative opportunities.

Harry Kane

The hopes of an entire nation could well be resting on the shoulders of Harry Kane, who will captain England at Euro 2024 and spearhead their attacking line. His consistent form and goals are likely to make all the difference in that pursuit.
After the Three Lions reached the Euro 2020 final, only to suffer a painful defeat by Italy on penalties at Wembley Stadium, the team led by Kane will be focused on going one better this time around in Germany.
Kane is no stranger to German venues now, having made the blockbuster switch to Bayern Munich in the summer 2023. Kane has set the Bundesliga on fire by scoring more goals than games played. If that hot streak continues, then England will be genuine contenders at Euro 2024.

Best of the rest top goalscorers

There were a number of standout goalscorers in the Euros qualifying campaign who will be fighting for the Golden Boot award.
Topping the charts with an incredible 14 goals in 8 games was Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku. Supplied by the likes of Manchester City’s Kevin de Bruyne and Jeremy Doku, Lukaku will be hoping to steer Belgium as far as possible.
Weighing in with 7 goals during qualifying were two Manchester United players - Denmark’s Rasmus Hojlund and Scotland’s Scott McTominay. Both countries have made it to the Finals in Germany and will be looking to cause a few upsets.
