Stormzy Tour Overview
After having to reschedule his original dates in 2020, and then again in 2021, Stormzy will finally be performing in 2022 on his biggest UK tour to date.
Stormzy’s 2022 tour is in support of his album, Heavy is the Head, which was released in 2020 and secured the rapper’s place as an icon of grime. The tour is guaranteed to be unmissable, as Stormzy is renowned for his stage presence and entertainment, having been the first British rapper to headline Glastonbury Festival in 2019.
The Heavy is the Head tour will begin on March 13th in Cardiff and conclude on 4th April in Glasgow, it will also include an incredible three shows at London’s 02 Arena, along with shows in Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham and Glasgow.
About Stormzy
Stormzy, real name Michael Ebenazer Kwadjo Omari Owuo Jr, is a South-London born, highly awarded rapper who began his musical career performing at local youth clubs just as the grime scene was emerging in the UK. Stormzy also shared his freestyle raps on Youtube with a series titled Wicked Skegman, the videos quickly garnered attention and Stormzy began to make a name for himself in the ever-evolving scene.
The Croydon rapper brought out his first EP, Dreamers Disease, in 2014 and the single, Know Me, a year later. Off the back of these releases Stormzy was featured on BBC’s Sound of 2015 list and given the title of Best Grime Act at the MOBO Awards. However, it was Stormzy’s renowned appearance at the boxing match between Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte, in which Stormzy performed Shut Up for Joshua’s entrance, that catapulted him into the UK Top 40 charts.
Stormzy released his debut album, Gang Signs & Prayer in 2017, it was the first grime album to receive mainstream praise and it earned him the BRIT awards for Best British Album and Best Solo Male in 2018. The artist’s sophomore album, Heavy Is The Head, came out in December 2019 featuring the single Vossi Bop which was not only Stormzy’s first number one hit, but also held its position for two consecutive weeks and broke the record for most streams in the first week for a British rapper. The album, Heavy Is The Head, features a number of musical talents including Aitch, H.E.R, and Headie One and also includes popular singles Own It, Crown and Wiley Flow.

- Stormzy did exceedingly well at school, achieving 6 A*s at GCSE, with his teachers even backing him to attend the prestigious Oxford University.
- Stormzy has multiple nicknames including Big Mike, The Problem, Stiff Chocolate and Wicked Skengman.
- Stormzy hosted an intense Q&A session with 300 students at Oxford University, topics included The BRITs, sexism in grime and his mum.
- Stormzy appeared in the film Brotherhood, which was the final film in the Kidulthood trilogy. Stormzy played the part of Yardz.
- Prior to his rise to fame, Stormzy was working on an oil refinery in quality assurance but decided to part with his project engineer career to pursue music.
